The Simplified Chinese version of the story of James S.C. Chao, a Chinese-American shipping magnate and the founder of the Foremost Group, was published on Wednesday in Beijing.

The book, called Fearless Against the Wind, depicted a lively story of James S.C. Chao's life from his birth in 1927 in Shanghai to his struggles and achievements in building his career and his shipping business.

Chao was born in a small, rural farming village in Shanghai. In the mid 1950s. he became one of the youngest ocean-going marine captains of that time at the age of 29.

In the year 1958, he moved to the United States all by himself and settled in New York City. In just six years, not only did he get a master's degree in management from St. John's University, Queens, but he also built the Foremost Group from nothing.

Meanwhile, he was a successful father with six excellent daughters, four of whom had graduated from Harvard. Elaine Lan Chao, the 18th and current United States Secretary of Transportation was among them, and she is the first Asian woman to undertake a ministerial position in the American government.

Chao said in a speech sharing his experiences and thoughts at the book launch that difficulties are opportunities which form the basis for success.

His youngest daughter expressed her deep love and pride of her parents at the book launch event, saying that their story would encourage others by its overflowing optimism, hope, and love.

Ge Wei, President of the China Fortune Media Group, spoke highly of Chao's achievements during his lifetime at the book launch.

He said Chao had won reputations for Chinese enterprises by leading the Foremost Group to make breakthroughs and go international continuously. He further said that his experiences would set a good example for Chinese entrepreneurs to integrate their businesses into modern commercial civilization and cooperation worldwide. Moreover, his ideology in raising children at home would surely enlighten many families in Chinese mainland. Finally, he had passed on his positive energy to society by contributions and promoting Sino-American communications.

The book was officially published in China by the Xinhua Publishing House in October 2017.
